Alter is an independent watch studio based in Switzerland that specializes in high-end watch customization. We are not affiliated, directly or indirectly, with any manufacturer and operate with complete autonomy.

Alter provides bespoke watch customization services exclusively for private clients. Our craftsmen work on existing timepieces and jewelry, transforming them both aesthetically and mechanically into unique creations. These services are available online only.

You can send us the details of your project using our online form. A thorough evaluation of your request will be carried out before acceptance.

No. Alter is not a watch retailer or manufacturer. We work only on models provided by our clients and customize them according to their specifications. Our services focus entirely on the transformation of existing timepieces, available on request and for personal use only.

Alter uses a wide range of techniques to enhance each project. We apply surface treatments such as PVD and DLC, along with finishes like brushing, satinizing, and sandblasting. Our artisans also excel in engraving, enameling, painting, and setting precious or semi-precious stones. Every component can be reworked with watchmaking and jewelry craftsmanship to allow for full personalization.

Alter can work on models from any brand; however, our watchmakers only work on authentic watches. Each request is carefully reviewed, and we reserve the right to decline a project if the watch does not meet our quality or feasibility standards.

The process starts with our team working closely with you to design a custom watch that matches your vision. Once the project is defined, our artisans take over, crafting every detail with precision in our Swiss workshops. Before delivery, the watch undergoes rigorous quality checks to ensure a flawless finish that meets the highest standards. Throughout the process, our team keeps you informed, ensuring full transparency at every stage.

The cost depends on the level of modification required. A personalized quote is provided after a detailed review of your project. Payment can be made by credit card via our Stripe system or by bank transfer.

We do not offer pre-designed models. Instead, we work closely with each client to create fully customized pieces that reflect their vision and identity. If you are inspired by a model on our website, we can create a version that closely resembles it using your own watch. As each piece is bespoke, we tailor the finishes and details to each project.

Yes. Customization can also be a way to bring a damaged watch back to life by restoring its finish and aesthetic appeal.

All modifications are carried out in Switzerland, in our workshops, by skilled craftsmen who have worked with some of the most prestigious brands.

Once your project is approved, we will provide detailed shipping instructions. To ensure maximum safety, we will send you an empty protective case designed to prevent scratches during transport. Simply place your watch inside and return it to us using a specialized carrier.

Once the final balance has been settled, your watch will be shipped via a secure postal service. It will arrive in an Alter presentation case, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a Warranty. We recommend keeping these documents in a safe place, as they confirm the value and authenticity of your customized piece.

Throughout the entire process, our team will stay in regular contact with you, providing full transparency and keeping you informed at each key stage of your watch’s customization.

The duration depends on the complexity of the project, but it typically takes several weeks from the time we receive your watch. A detailed timeline will be provided once the project is approved to ensure clarity and planning.

Yes. We ship our customized creations worldwide using specialized carriers to ensure the safety and integrity of your watch.

Watch brands generally do not recognize modifications made by independent workshops, which voids their official warranty. Once a watch has been customized by Alter, the manufacturer’s warranty is no longer valid. To compensate for this, we provide our own exclusive warranty covering all modifications carried out in our workshops.

If you experience a problem with your custom watch, please contact us with a detailed description. After evaluation, if the issue is covered by our warranty, we will proceed with the necessary repairs. To benefit from the Alter warranty, you must present the warranty certificate provided with your watch. This will be verified against our internal customer records.

Please note that our services are for private, personal use only. Any commercial use or resale of the watch after customization will void the warranty.

Our services are intended for personal and private use only. Alter is not responsible for any other use. Reselling a watch customized by Alter is not authorized and will void the warranty. If we determine that a client has placed a customized watch back into commercial circulation, we reserve the right to decline any future customization requests from that client.
