This project reimagines a world-time gold watch through a radical monochrome lens. Every surface is stripped of excess, reducing the map to a nearly invisible trace, perceptible only to the most attentive gaze.
At the Origin of the Design
The client was drawn to the tension between discretion and attention to detail. The brief called for a predominantly monochrome design. In response, we suggested exploring a nuanced palette of blacks and grays. This sparked a thoughtful exchange between our designers and the client, resulting in an expressive balance being achieved.
The case, dial, hands and indexes have all been reinterpreted in a unified chromatic palette. The black DLC coating, precisely applied to the gold case, provides deep tonality and superior resistance without altering the original silhouette. Harmonizing the materials, light, reflection, and volume reshapes the identity of the watch.
Transforming Icons with Precision
The process began with the complete disassembly in our Swiss workshops. Each component was cleaned, inspected and prepared for transformation. Once the black DLC coating had been applied, our artisans painted the dial, hands and hour markers in carefully selected shades of black and grey. The piece was then reassembled with meticulous care.
Beyond Aesthetics
This project required an in-depth intervention by our Swiss artisans, going beyond surface transformation. Every step was designed to reinterpret the design language according to the client’s vision, while ensuring the reliability and precision of the finished piece.
