This project gives the watch a new visual identity through an entirely black composition. Brushed and polished surfaces interact with light, revealing the original geometry of the case and bracelet through contrast and texture.
The Owner’s Vision
This watch showed numerous scratches and signs of impact after years of wear. Rather than simply restoring it, the owner wanted to give it a new identity. Through close dialogue with our design team, we developed a monochrome black composition that would stand out within his collection.
Brushed and Polished Finishes
Before coating, each component was refinished to remove the scratches accumulated over time. The work was carried out by a jeweler specializing in watch surface finishing. The case and larger bracelet links were brushed, while the angles, crown, and intermediate links were mirror polished.
Black defines every element of the transformation, from the coated case and bracelet to the hands and indexes, which were painted black and fitted with black Super LumiNova to complete the monochrome design.
Black DLC treatment
All stainless steel components were coated in black diamond like carbon (DLC). Measuring approximately 2 to 4 microns, the ultra thin layer protects against wear without altering the metal beneath or masking finishes. The reversible coating can be removed to restore the original stainless steel finish.
